Techniques

HR8.1 Auto Detect (Sense)

Hard
Default: Per-4 + any appropriate Acute Sense and Talent (B35,P47).
Prerequisite: Detect (Sense) with Reflexive enhancement (P109); cannot exceed Per + any appropriate Acute Sense and Talent.

You've trained your sense to a hairline trigger, progressively buying off the Reflexive penalty and making it easier to automatically detect. Each specified sense is a separate technique.

HR8.2 Bluff Old Job

Average
Default: Fast Talk.
Prerequisite: Fast Talk, any skill required for old job, 6 months experience in old job; cannot exceed Fast Talk skill + 4.

You can invoke your knowledge and attitude of your old job or profession to fool others that you're working when you're really infiltrating and committing a nefarious act. You might need your old uniform. Each specified old job is a separate technique.

HR8.3 Diagnosis (Species)

Average
Default: Diagnosis with physiology penalty of specific species.
Prerequisite: Diagnosis; cannot exceed Diagnosis skill.

You can study the physiological differences between your species and the specified, gradually buying off the physiology penalty (B181). Each specified species is a separate technique.

HR8.4 First Aid (Species)

Default: First Aid with physiology penalty of specific species.
Prerequisite: First Aid; cannot exceed First Aid skill.

HR8.5 Instant Computer Crash

Average
Default: Computer Operation/TL -4.
Prerequisite: Computer Operation/TL; cannot exceed Computer Operation/TL skill.

If you have root access to a computer system, you can crash and reboot it at a moment's notice. This immediately kicks you off but also kicks off those trying to trace you or interfere. The reboot time gives you time to tear down other remote connections.

HR8.6 Makeshift Repairs (Speciality)

Average
Default: Mechanic of a specific speciality.
Prerequisite: Mechanic; cannot exceed Mechanic skill + 4.

You know tricks for temporary repairs of a specific type of machine. Such repairs don't last long and proper repairs must be done soon but they can get you out of a jam. Each specified speciality is a separate technique.

HR8.7 Makeup Mirror Observation

Average
Default: Observation.
Prerequisite: Observation; cannot exceed Observation skill + 4.

You can disguise looking behind you with a handheld mirror as looking at yourself. This only works if stopping to beautify yourself is not out of place, such as in an airport lounge or just before entering an important meeting.

HR8.8 Physician (Species)

Default: Physician with physiology penalty of specific species.
Prerequisite: Physician; cannot exceed Physician skill.

HR8.9 Resist Crediline

Average
Default: HT-3.
Prerequisite: Personal TL9+; cannot exceed HT+4.

You can train your brain to be more paranoid and secretive when you feel more trusting and talkative, thus countering the effects of the ultra-tech Crediline drug.

HR8.10 Stand-out

Average
Default: Performance.
Prerequisite:Performance; cannot exceed base skill + 2.

Allows a person to draw attention to themselves without appearing to do so deliberately.

HR8.11 Surgery (Species)

Average
Default: Surgery with physiology penalty of specific species.
Prerequisite: Surgery; cannot exceed Surgery skill.

HR8.12 Touch Raw Nerve

Average
Default: Psychology -4.
Prerequisite: Psychology; cannot exceed Psychology skill.

Once you've studied someone and obtained a profile, you can deliver a one-liner about the target that he can't nonchalantly ignore and will momentarily shock him, such as the soft spot of a hard man, a deeply regretted mistake or a failure to uphold a cherished ideal. It's likely something he already knows but it's obvious you've stung him. It even affects those with Unfazeable but not the truly emotionless. This does not compel him to do anything other than pause momentarily and this has no combat effect. However, as you've embarrased him in front of his peers or subordinates, opened an old wound, questioned his integrity etc., he may decide something on the spot, such as make you watch his evil plan, justify his actions, cry, start a fight or throw an object at his cat. Those with Megalomania are particularly likely to overreact. Whatever the reaction, it won't be to ignore it.

HR8.13 Trip Fire Alarm

Average
Default: Electronics Operation (Security)/TL
Prerequisite: Electronics Operation (Security)/TL; cannot exceed Electronics Operation (Security)/TL skill + 4.

You can locate the fire sensors and door override control circuits and hack them with your tools in seconds, ripping covers off panels if necessary. The -2 familarity penalty usually applies. The security system will change to fire escape mode and allow everyone to escape but usually not let anyone in. You've also alerted the guards and the fire brigade.
